Asus Zenfone 2 – Everything You Need To Know!
Since its first launch of Asus Zenfone in 2014, there has been no looking back for Asus. Asus has revolutionized the industry through their friendly budget phone with no compromise in its features listing. Asus Zenfone 2 is a direct competition to heavyweight champions like LG, Samsung and HTC but within a decent price. Asus Zenfone 2 is loaded with best quality features, excellent specifications and fine build feature.
The Blueprint
Design or the outline of the phone is not a WOW kind; instead Asus Zenfone 2 inherits its blueprint from its predecessor or older models. The body is made up of plastic, but the finish and quality are excellent. The Smartphone comes with curved corners, and back has a smooth curve shrinking along the edges providing a better grip and even finish to hold and touch. The back is metal coated, providing a shiny and attractive look, thereby preventing the back
from gathering fingerprints. You could easily remove the back cover, which opens your door to two SIM slots and SD card slot. However, as mentioned in the specification above battery is non-removable.
A 5.5-inch capacitive screen is pretty much manageable with one hand. But there seem to some glitches with one hand handling because of its new design. The new feature of Asus Zenfone 2 is no buttons on left and right side of the phone. Instead, the power button is at the top, just adjacent to the headphone jack, which seems to be tricky, as booting with the single hand would be a challenge for sure. Even the power button is sleazy, and the user may not be a good experience while using it. The flip side of the above design is the availability of wake and sleep gesture with a double tap, limiting the use of power button.
A beautiful feature of Asus Zenfone 2 is providing the volume rocker buttons at the back, quite similar to LG phone, making them easy to use and within reach. The micro USB port could be located at the bottom and speakers are at the back of the phone. So overall designing is an average with little bit of toppings
The Display
The Asus Zenfone 2 comes with an LCD along with a resolution of 1080p providing a pixel density of 403 ppi. You would surely fall in love with the display experience of Asus, and they very much are up to the expectations by providing a vivid, sharp and bright screen. It has a good clarity in bright sun and proper brightness for night viewing as well. The 5.5-inch screen size is pretty much apt for playing of media, and you would love to play games and watch videos on this screen.
The Camera
The ASUS Zenfone 2 is equipped with 13-megapixel back camera, loaded with dual-tone LED flash and a decent orifice of f/2.0. The new age ASUS pixel master technology is built in, helping you to get clear and bright pictures in low light areas. The camera mode is quite a normal one loaded with all kinds of settings that are available in any other smartphone.
Although clicking a selfie from this phone is totally worth it. The phone has a 5mega pixel front camera, which comes with beautification feature and a selfie panorama mode easing out clicking selfie for you and your family.
The Hardware and Performance
Well, this phone is a power packed in terms of hardware that in turn boosts its performance. As mentioned above in the specs it has two packs of Intel Atom Z3580 processor of 64 bits, bonded with 2.3 GHz and backed up by G6430 GPU, and this is among the first phone to be boasting a 4GB RAM. However, there is another variant of these phone are also available on the market.
With 4 GB RAM, you would expect the device to be responsive and fast enough to handle heavy games and other mobile apps. And this phone is very much on the expectation as the animation is even, apps open up quickly and gaming on this device is fun. Overall a heavy mobile user would surely love the performance of the phone.
The internet connection works pretty smoothly on the phone, and the device is capable of handling storage for 16GB, 32 GB and 64 GB. However, you can expand the storage up to 64 GB, which gives this phone an extra edge in terms of storing data. The speakers are of average performance, providing adequate sound quality for calls and music.
Many of the users have been experiencing battery draining issue, and right now it's tough to know the actual cause of the issue. But the company knows the issue and is trying hard to fix it, so in future an update to this issue should be available.
The Software
The Asus Zenfone 2 is loaded with lollipop out of the box, however on the box it's mentioned Android 5.0. The phone comes with Asus Zen UI, which has some of the design of lollipop only noticeable in recent apps and the notification shade screen.
Few of the features that are worth mentioning and could be used when the screen off are – Zenmotion, which includes wake up feature by double tap and ability to draw different characters to open a specific application.
The Verdict
The Asus Zenfone 2 is now available across the globe like China, Taiwan, Europe, US, and India. It's available in a range of colors with base model pricing at 199$(around 20k -30k INR in India). The phone is loaded with quite good and decent features and once the battery issue is resolved, for sure it would have no competitor in this Android phone series. Setting a trend in the market, Asus has challenged the fact that good things come at a price! Are still there any takers for that?
